When Lenny (Allen), a New York sportswriter, and his wife Amanda (Bonham Carter) find out their adopted son Max is a genius, Lenny becomes obsessed with finding Max's real parents because he believes that they too must be brilliant.

What a surprise then when he finds that Max's real mother is a prostitute and porn star Linda Ash. Striking up a relationship with Linda, Lenny tries to persuade her to give up the game and settle down with boxer-turned-onion- farmer Kevin (Rapaport).
